The Islanders re-signed defensemen Noah Dobson and Alexander Romanov to three-year contracts and re-signed star center Mathew Barzal to an eight-year deal worth $73.2 million.

Barzal, 25, is one of the franchise’s key young players and leads the team with 27 assists. He is tied with Brock Nelson for the team lead in points with 31. Nelson also leads New York with 14 goals.

With so much time left in the season, the goal for new coach Lane Lambert will be getting the Islanders back in the postseason.

Islanders to win Stanley Cup +3500
