How to bet on the New York Islanders in New York

It’s been about a year since online sports betting has been legal after it was launched in New York last January. That means this is the first full NHL season when New York State residents can legally bet on the Islanders.

The best way to bet on sports in New York is with sports betting websites and apps. New Jersey residents have more brick and mortar options in Atlantic City and the Meadowlands, for example, but for the most part online betting is the way to go.

New Yorkers can pick from tons of reputable sports betting websites and every single one is a smart choice for NHL betting. There are awesome bonuses available to New York residents from FanDuel Sportsbook, Caesars, BetMGM, PointsBet Sportsbooks, and more.

New Jersey has legalized sports betting for a while now and there are some in-person sportsbooks in Atlantic City. Online sports betting has been live in Connecticut since October 2021, so anywhere in the Tri-State area is good to go for sports betting.

New York Islanders Sports Betting Apps

Sports betting apps provide bettors a very simple way to wager on the Islanders. Good thing for Islanders fans is that there are plenty of sports betting apps available to bettors in New York and the Tri-State area. What’s more, you can easily use a sports betting app anywhere in the US, as long as online sports betting is legal in the state you’re in.

The apps just make it so convenient to bet on the Islanders. Whether you’re doing some weekend errands, picking up the kids from school, or just hanging out watching sports, it’s pretty easy to make some bets with just your smartphone.

New York Islanders Betting Analysis

New York Islanders at a glance

It’s been a decent start to the season for the New York Islanders. Entering play Saturday, New York was 17-13-1 with 35 points, which is good for the last Eastern Conference wild card spot.

The Islanders missed the playoffs for the first time in three years last season, which prompted the dismissal of head coach Barry Trotz. New York hired Lane Lambert to be the next head coach this offseason.

There were not a lot of big offseason additions made by Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello, but New York did manage to keep some important players in-house. The Islanders re-signed defensemen Noah Dobson and Alexander Romanov to three-year contracts and re-signed star center Mathew Barzal to an eight-year deal worth $73.2 million.

Barzal, 25, is one of the franchise’s key young players and leads the team with 27 assists. He is tied with Brock Nelson for the team lead in points with 31. Nelson also leads New York with 14 goals.

With so much time left in the season, the goal for new coach Lane Lambert will be getting the Islanders back in the postseason.

Islanders to win Stanley Cup +3500

The Islanders are very much in the middle of the pack when it comes to Stanley Cup odds. BetMGM Sportsbook has New York’s odds to win it all at +3500, tied with the Winnipeg Jets for 15th-best in the NHL. The Isles aren’t totally out of it, but they are far from being favorites.

They trail Metropolitan Division foes like the New Jersey Devils (+1000), Carolina Hurricanes (+1100), and the Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers at +2200. Right now, the Islanders have one of the two final Wild Card spots in the Eastern Conference and making the playoffs is a very reasonable goal. Anything more than that is going to be a tall order.

Islanders to win Metropolitan Division +1800

The Islanders have a tough road ahead in winning the Metropolitan Division with three heavy favorites ahead of them. The Devils are the clear favorites to win the division at -150, followed by the Hurricanes at +225, then the Penguins at +750.

The Islanders come in with the fourth-best odds at +1800, a good bit ahead of the Rangers at +2500, despite the fact that both teams are right next to each other in the standings at the moment.

New York Islanders Betting partnerships

New York Islanders and Betway

Online sports betting company Betway announced in March 2022 that it agreed to a partnership with the Islanders. Betway partnered with six American professional sports teams, including the Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls.

The Islanders have also partnered with mobile lottery company Jackpocket. Jackpocket is the official helmet sponsor of the Islanders and Jackpocket players can have access to Islanders prizes, including tickets and signed merchandise.

New York Islanders: The History

The Islanders came into existence in 1972 when the NHL decided to grant a franchise to Long Island. After two years of poor play as an expansion team, the Islanders made the playoffs five years in a row from 1974-79 under head coach Al Arbour. That was just the preview of what was to come.

New York etched itself into NHL lore by winning four consecutive Stanley Cup Finals from 1980 to 1983. Those rosters were loaded with Hall of Famers, including defenseman Denis Potvin, right wing Mike Bossy, center Bryan Trottier, left wing Clark Gillies, and goalie Billy. Smith. The franchise also made it to the Stanley Cup Final in 1984, but lost to Wayne Gretzky and the upstart Edmonton Oilers.

The Islanders continued to be a solid team throughout the 1980s, but fell deep into irrelevance in the 1990s when the team managed just one winning season in the decade. New York was a little better in the 2000s with four playoff trips, but it lost in the first round each time.

Star center John Tavares provided Islanders fans with some excitement in the 2010s, but New York was never able to put together a meaningful playoff run with him.

The Islanders popped up in 2020 when they made it to the Eastern Conference Finals in the pandemic-altered postseason. In 2021, the Islanders began playing at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.
