Even though it is many months away from release, discourse around the iPhone 15 is quite lively. Based on the information available online so far, one can conclude the wedge between Pro and non-Pro models will be even wider this time around. Leaker @Unknownz21 (H/T MacRumors) has now discovered yet another difference between the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Pro SKUs.
Internal documents obtained by the leaker show the iPhone 15 Pro (codenamed D8x) and iPhone 15 Pro Max (or iPhone 15 Ultra, depending on who you ask) will be the only smartphones of the lot to support Wi-Fi 6E. The vanilla iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus (codenamed D3y) will be limited to Wi-Fi 6. This claim is further corroborated by MacRumors, who claim to have seen additional evidence.
Wi-Fi 6E joins the long list of features exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro models. It might not be that much of a dealbreaker, given Wi-Fi 6E routers are still few and far between. Other features include faster USB-C connectivity, an A17 Bionic SoC, a periscope lens, a brand-new camera sensor and solid-state buttons. These features will also drive up the prices remarkably, with the maxed-out iPhone 15 Ultra expected to retail at US$1,799.
