Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons has a good chance of playing for Australia in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, according to eurohoops.net. Per the article, Brian Goorjian, head coach of the Australian National Team, talked to SEN Radio about whether Simmons will be playing for the team in the World Cup.
Simmons is currently rehabbing from a nerve impingement in his back that prematurely ended his 2022-23 season. He played just 42 games before he was shut down by the organization due to a variety of injuries related to his back and knees. When Simmons did play, he did not look like himself as his appearances lacked confidence and explosion.
During the Nets’ exit interviews, Brooklyn general manager Sean Marks said that Simmons’ recovery is going as planned and that he won’t need another back surgery at this time. According to Simmons’ agent, Bernie Lee, Simmons should be healthy enough to participate in training camp when it comes around later in the summer.
