The Brooklyn Nets are moving forward with their offseason now that the NBA 2K24 Summer League is over and done with, but it looks like one of their notable players has some unfinished business to take care of.
According to Zach Lowe of ESPN, Nets guard Ben Simmons has been credited for a year of service for the season that he held out on the Philadelphia 76ers before being traded to Brooklyn. After Simmons did not play well in Philadelphia’s 2021 second-round series against the Atlanta Hawks, highlighted by Simmons passing up on a dunk attempt over Trae Young because he appeared to not want to go to the free-throw line, there was a bunch of drama with the 76ers that eventually led to Simmons withholding his services.
Going into the 2021-22 campaign, Simmons wanted to be traded because he no longer wanted to play for the team that drafted him with the first overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. After staying true to his word of not playing for the organization again, Simmons was traded to the Nets in February of 2022 in exchange for James Harden.
