The New York Knicks are yet to make a move for long-for target Donovan Mitchell, who is still part of the Utah Jazz, amid trade rumors putting him in the Big Apple before the start of the next season. While Mitchell has been linked with a move to New York, nothing has become official, and we’re yet to see if the Knicks are the team that actually lands him.
Besides the Knickerbockers, the Brooklyn Nets and the Miami Heat were mentioned as potential landing spots for the shooting guard, but again, nothing has happened. This has apparently opened the door for other teams that could try to snatch Mitchell away from New York or Florida.
Perhaps not the biggest competitors in the Eastern Conference, the Charlotte Hornets, and Washington Wizards are reportedly pursuing a move for Spida, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
After several weeks of no conversations, the New York Knicks and Utah Jazz recently re-engaged in trade talks centered on Donovan Mitchell, league sources told The Athletic.
The Knicks and Jazz had a fresh trade conversation within the past week about potential packages for Mitchell, according to sources. There is no traction between the two teams on a deal, and no Mitchell trade is imminent for the Jazz, sources said. The Charlotte Hornets and Washington Wizards are also among the teams pursuing Mitchell, those sources said.
It seems like the Knicks are in pole position to acquire Mitchell’s services, but they’re not the only ones pursuing a move for the talented player. A duo with LaMelo Ball in Charlotte would be spectacular to see, or him sharing touches with Bradley Beal in DC would be cool too.
However, we’re yet to see a resolution to this situation. The Jazz appear to be ready to blow things up and start a serious rebuilding after trading Rudy Gobert away. Now, Mitchell is the only piece they need to ship before getting back to the bottom.
