Bronny James is the son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, and he should be a solid prospect when he eventually gets drafted. He is already a solid shooter and defender at the high school level.
During his recent appearance on The Wine And Gold Talk podcast, NBA insider Chris Fedor revealed that Bronny James is projected to be drafted late in the first round or early in the second round when he declares for the NBA Draft. However, he also noted that the situation could end up changing, especially if Bronny James has a fantastic year playing in high school and another elite year wherever he goes to college. (18:52):
“By all accounts, everybody that I’ve talked to around the NBA that does this for a living, that scouts this, they talk about Bronny as a late first-round pick, early second-round pick type of player”
“Now that could change. He could have a great season this year in high school, and then he could go somewhere to college and have a great freshman season and then the status quo changes.”
There are definitely some people who are fans of Bronny James’ game. NBA veteran Thaddeus Young has previously noted that the younger James might not be the “elite of the elite” but also stated that Bronny James is “solid as hell”.
“He’s solid as hell,” said Thaddeus Young, who just finished his 15th NBA season and sponsored a team that played Strive for Greatness, an assessment that was largely echoed by college coaches and NBA scouts. “Obviously, probably not the elite of the elite. But he’s athletic, he’s strong, he plays defense, he can shoot the ball well, he can run the point guard position, he can play off the ball.”
Hopefully, we see Bronny James continue to improve as a player, and perhaps we will see him rise in the rankings in the future. He definitely has a solid foundation already, and he does a lot of important things well.
It would be amazing for us to see LeBron James and Bronny James play on the same team in the league, and LeBron James has already stated that his plan is to play with his son. It remains to be seen where that will happen, but it’s clear that it will be LeBron James’ priority in the future.
