The Minnesota Timberwolves were in the headlines during the offseason due to trading a number of assets to acquire All-Star center Rudy Gobert. The T-Wolves now essentially have a superteam with a roster featuring D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Rudy Gobert.
Considering they are in the loaded Western Conference, the franchise has not seen a lot of success in recent years. But their current roster looks good enough to at least have a decent playoff run.
They impressed many last season after qualifying for the NBA playoffs. Although they ended up losing in the first round of the postseason. The Timberwolves have only gotten stronger ahead of the 2022-23 NBA season, so they may actually be dark horse contenders to make it all the way to the NBA Finals.
D’Angelo Russell Gets Trolled By NBA Fans
While many have accepted the Timberwolves as one of the contenders to make it out of the West ahead of the new season, they aren’t the flat-out favorites. But it seems like D’Lo believes otherwise. He recently claimed that other NBA teams do not want to match up against them.
“People wanna watch you play but they don’t wanna play against you… we’re exciting on TV. We were that team, so I think that prepares us for this year coming up. We’re the team that everybody is talking about, I don’t think anybody wants to match up against us. We have the personnel to match up with anybody, so that’s a good problem to have as a coach.”
While it’s great to have confidence in your team, knowing where to draw the line is essential. With that thought in mind, NBA fans didn’t hold back when they roasted D’Lo for his recent comments.
The biggest issue for the Timberwolves has always been a lackluster defense. The addition of Rudy Gobert will certainly help the team in getting better at defense.
With that aspect of the game sorted, the likes of D’Lo, KAT, and Edwards can focus on the offensive end of the floor. In theory, this team indeed sounds good enough to have a deep playoff run, but we can never be sure of it before we watch them play together.
