The NBA has a lot of prominent stars, who have a huge following. Generally, fans line up to watch NBA games during the season. However, during the offseason, fans who want to watch stars play basketball can go to pro-am leagues and watch them hoop against amateurs and other pro players.
The Crawsover is a pro-am tournament hosted by legendary sixth man Jamal Crawford. It was recently reported that stars like LeBron James and Jayson Tatum would be making their debuts in the league today.
An NBA fan has recently shared a video of the long line that was headed into the Crawsover. The fan claimed that the video was filmed at 7 AM, and it’s clear that a lot of fans were willing to wait to watch their favorite players play basketball.
Earlier in the summer, Atlanta Hawks star Dejounte Murray implored other stars to play in pro-am leagues, so that “kids and people who can’t afford” to see players in an arena can watch them play basketball. It is clear that his message has reached the ears of other stars in the league.
“To my NBA brothers. If you healthy and love hooping man get out to these Pro-Am so these kids and and people who can’t afford to see us be able to see us for free. We ain’t too big for that sh*t!”
We have seen LeBron James play in multiple pro-am tournaments this summer already, and perhaps we’ll see him in other tournaments in the future. It is definitely good that stars are willing to play in tournaments to support basketball culture around the United States.
Hopefully, we see even more stars join pro-am leagues going forward. That would create even more opportunities for fans to watch NBA players hoop during the offseason and further increase interest in the game.
