Wednesday means we are back again with some NBA previews and best bets for the matchups tonight across the league. As we head towards the All-Star break we are starting to see things heating up as teams are nearing the make-or-break point of the season.

We should see several trades over the coming weeks and I for one will be interested in what those opportunities might bring to players from a betting perspective.

Tonight, however, the first game I will look at is between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Utah Jazz.

The player I am going to focus on tonight will be JUSUF NURKIC, the Portland center. I don’t think anyone would be surprised to see Utah struggling against big men the way they have after the departure of perennial Defensive Player of The Years candidate, Rudy Gobert during the offseason.

Utah has struggled to find the right recipe for defending post players and they should have their hands full with Nurkic tonight.

The Jazz have been giving more and more minutes to rookie center Walker Kessler, which will be great for his development, but he is still a raw prospect.

Nurkic on the other hand is a seasoned veteran and has already scored 15 and 18 points in a pair of matches against the Jazz so far this season.

He most recently had a very rough stretch of three games but bounced back in a big way last time out scoring 25 points against the Spurs. That will have done well for his confidence and I am hoping he can keep the hot hand going into this matchup with the Jazz.

The second play I’ll look at tonight is a play where I really think we have a matchup advantage. The Rockets will play host to the Wizards this evening and I love the matchup ALPEREN SENGUN has against a Wizard frontcourt that has been a bit depleted.

Starting center Kristaps Porzingis will miss tonight’s game as he deals with an injury, and the Wizards also just traded Rui Hachimura to the Los Angeles Lakers.

That leaves Daniel Gafford as the starting center for Washington, with some thin depth behind him. While Gafford might be a better defender than Porzingis, Gafford is probably best suited to come off the bench and should have his hands full with the versatility Sengun brings to the game.

Sengun has benefited tremendously from being on a bad team and being able to log big minutes to help his development.

He has already shown flashes of brilliance and the way he can impact the game on all levels reminds me of players like Domantas Sabonis or Nikola Jokic.

While he is certainly nowhere near as dominant as Jokic, the way he gets involved in all facets makes him a legit triple-double threat as a big man.

I think he will continue the streak of good play he has had recently and will look for him to have a stellar night on offense at home this evening.
