MSI Summit E16 Flip A12UDT: 2-in-1 laptop with gaming qualities

In the Summit E16 Flip, which is a 2-in-1 laptop from the business segment, MSI uses an elegant, slim, black metal case that doesn’t show any major weaknesses.

The built-in combination of an Alder Lake Core i7-1280P processor, GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop graphics core, and 32 GB of LPDDR5-4800 working memory (dual-channel mode, onboard, no storage banks) equips the laptop for all demanding application areas, such as video processing, rendering, or gaming. A fast PCIe 4 SSD (M.2-2280) ensures short load times and offers a lot of storage capacity (2 TB).

A 82-Wh battery delivers a WLAN runtime of about 7 hours (with the display brightness set to about 150 cd/m²), which is quite a good value considering the hardware equipment. A USB-C charger (100 watts) can be connected to either of the two Thunderbolt 4 ports and provides the laptop with power. In this way, one TB4 port will always remain available for other tasks such as connecting a docking solution or external GPU.

The 16-inch IPS touchscreen display (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) covers the DCI-P3 color space. This is accompanied by stable viewing angles, a good color reproduction, short response times, and a good contrast level. Unfortunately, the panel has a reflective surface. In addition, the maximum brightness could have been higher. The touchscreen can be operated with fingers as well as the included MSI input pen.

The tested equipment configuration of the MSI convertible costs about 2,700 Euros (~$2664) in Germany. You can also get models without a dedicated graphics card for less.
