The previously Switch exclusive Monster Hunter Rise will be coming to PlayStation and Xbox consoles in January, along with a PC version. With the Sunbreak expansion will also be released on these new platforms in the Spring.
Specifically, Monster Hunter Rise will be released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on January 20, with the PC version released slightly earlier on January 12.
Furthermore, Microsoft has secured Monster Hunter Rise as part of its Game Pass service, which will no doubt have a massive impact on the uptake of the service and bolster the already large international Monster Hunter fan base
Considering that Monster Hunter Rise started out on the Switch, these new versions will also have some interesting improvements. From 4K 60fps to 3D audio and voice chat, not to mention all manner of pre-order bonuses and other DLC. So even if you have been enjoying yourself on the Switch version, these new releases still have a lot to offer.
To understand why this is a pretty big deal, just from a sales numbers standpoint, the Sunbreak expansion on its own sold more than 4 million units and I laughed itself has passed 11 million units since its release in March of last year.
While Monster Hunter was historically a Japanese only gaming phenomenon, in recent years the series has garnered a substantial global appeal. So to have I laughed appear across all manner of new platforms is a significant development for the series.
Monster Hunter Rise is currently available on the Switch and will be released on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on January 20. The PC release will be slightly earlier on January 12.
