Mobile insurance pushed as smartphone market increases by 22.6%

Mobile insurance provider Etiqa Philippines urged mobile phone owners to get protection plans for their devices to safeguard themselves from the high costs of losing or breaking their electronics.

In a statement, Etiqa Philippines president and chief executive officer Rico Bautista underlined that insurance is necessary to provide constant, dependable protection for smart devices and our health, property, and other necessities.

“Mobile devices are no longer seen as just a status symbol or used solely for work but have become a necessity, helping us to further our careers, businesses, and day-to-day activities,” said Bautista.

“In securing them, the mobile insurance plans will ensure that the lives and activities of their users will continue with minimal disruption, even if these devices are damaged. This is aligned with our commitment to offering products and services that will make our customers’ lives easier,” added Bautista.

Etiqa Philippines, citing several surveys, noted that the Philippines’ smartphone market grew by 22.6 percent in 2021. Another study conducted by extra pointed out that the Philippines has 82.3 million mobile phone users.
