Mobile core networks and multi-access edge computing market revenue decline in 3Q 2022: Dell’Oro Group

  • by

The mobile core networks and multi-access edge computing market revenue growth declined year-over-year once more in 3Q 2022 recording two quarters in a row with negative year-over-year growth, according to market research firm Dell’Oro Group.

Since last quarter, while nine new mobile network operators have launched 5G standalone networks, it was not enough to offset the decline in 4G mobile core networks and IMS core markets, Dell’Oro Group explained.

“The China region had a positive year-over-year growth rate for the quarter, but it was not enough to offset the decline in the rest of the market, with the global market declining year-over-year,” commented Dell’Oro. Group research director Dave Bolan.

“Even with nine new MNOs launching 5G SA eMBB networks since last quarter, it was not enough to propel the MCN market into positive growth. Many of these new 5G SA networks recently launched were not country-wide, limiting the growth. In addition, the fall-off in 4G MCN and IMS Core market was more than anticipated,” Bolan added.

“To date, we count 36 5G SA eMBB networks that have been commercially deployed. The nine new 5G SA eMBB networks that MNOs launched since last quarter include Bell (Canada), AT&T and Verizon (USA), stc Bahrain, Telekom (Germany), Optus (Australia), Claro, TIM, and Vivo (Brazil).”

The 3Q 2022 Mobile Core Network and Multi-Access Edge Computing Report listed the top global MCN vendors for the quarter: Huawei, Ericsson, ZTE, Nokia, and Cisco.

It also identified the top five global 5G MCN vendors for the quarter: Huawei, ZTE, Ericsson, Nokia, and Mavenir.

ENABLE HYBRID CLOUD & REDUCE NETWORK LATENCY WHITEPAPER

Hybrid cloud promises to bring together the best of both worlds enabling businesses to combine the scalability and cost-effectiveness of the cloud with the performance and control that you can get from your on-premise infrastructure.

Reducing WAN latency is one of the biggest issues with hybrid cloud performance. Taking advantage of compression and data deduplication can reduce your network latency.

Research firm, Markets and Markets, predicted that the hybrid cloud market size is expected to grow from US$38.27 billion in 2017 to US$97.64 billion by 2023.

Colocation facilities provide many of the benefits of having your servers in the cloud while still maintaining physical control of your systems.

Cloud adjacency provided by colocation facilities can enable you to leverage their low latency high bandwidth connections to the cloud as well as providing a solid connection back to your on-premises corporate network.
