While many professional athletes are some of the finest human specimens on the planet, New York Mets designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach probably isn’t one of them. However, the Major League Baseball veteran embraced his rather unathletic body in a hilarious way on Wednesday.
During an afternoon game against the Cincinnati Reds, Vogelbach chose a hilariously fitting walk-up song, stepping up to the plate while “Milkshake” by Kelis played over the Citi Field PA system – much to the delight of the hometown crowd.

Vogelbach didn’t necessarily acknowledge the song – he went through his regular batting routine. However, the crowd clearly loved it. And the hilarious song selection also generated quite a few reactions from the MLB world on social media.

I’ve been following Vogelbach’s career since I had season tickets to the Tacoma Rainiers in ’17. He played 125 games for Tacoma then. He’s clearly “one of the boys.” Always chatting it up with players at 1B. Always laughing. Just “gets it.” One of the good guys in the game. https://t.co/B9Rj5RinO0

Vogelbach’s song selection wasn’t completely out of the blue. Several different Mets players chose a walk-up song written and performed by a female musical artist as part of the team’s “Women’s Day” celebration at Citi Field on Wednesday, according to a Mets writer Michael Mayer.
Even though Vogelbach was not exactly the only Mets player to choose a special walk-up song for the celebration, it’s probably safe to say his walk-up son was the most memorable. The legendary moment will undoubtedly stay in the memory of those fans in attendance.
