MLB trades and contracts: Rundown of players and their new teams for the 2023 season

The MLB offseason has been a busy one, with teams offering huge contracts to lure star players away from other organizations; and, in some cases, to convince them to stay.

The most-talked-about case of ‘should I stay or should I go’ involved Aaron Judgewho finally signed a nine-year, $360 million contract to stay with the New York Yankees. This is $146.5 million above the team’s reported initial offer, which he rejected. After hitting a total of 64 home runs, the Yankees eventually coughed up an offer that Judge could not refuse.

Other teams that were bent on keeping players for the long haul were the Philadelphia Phillieswho signed Trea Turner to an 11-year, $300 million dealand the San Diego Padres who locked up Xander Bogaerts for 11 years with a $280 million agreement.
