Several MLB (Major League Baseball) players, including Carlos Correa, were in attendance at UFC 282, the last pay-per-view event of 2022. Notable MLB stars like Alex Bregman and Lance McCullers Jr. were also spotted enjoying the event.
Carlos Correa, who shockingly signed with the Minnesota Twins (pending physical) after his deals with the San Francisco Giants and New York Mets fell through, once stated that he would love to participate in a UFC bout.
During a Q&A session with MMA Junkie in 2020, Correa claimed that he would “love to” fight in the UFC:
“I would love to cross over into the UFC. I grew up boxing and I loved it, but I realized, ‘Man, in baseball, you don’t get hit as much.’ In boxing I’m going to have to be constantly getting hit in the face and stomach in the ribs and that hurts. I stuck to baseball and it worked out well for me. But definitely I would love to try.”
The baseball shortstop also posted a video of himself hitting a heavy bag in the past while wearing what appeared to be MMA gloves, along with the following caption:
“Preparing for my @ufc debut @danawhite @mickmaynard2 @thewalkoutpodcast”
Carlos Correa is reportedly completing a six-year, 200 million dollar contract with the Minnesota Twins. It was a startling turn of events since Correa was deep in negotiations with the New York Mets after the agreement stalled over physical concerns. Correa’s deal with the Mets was reached after his deal with the San Francisco Giants fell through similarly.
