Justin heads into his 18th season in MLB
After being announced as the Mets’ new All-Star pitcher, Verlander held a press conference where he said, “Why put in all that time and effort and work and sacrifice and sell myself short at the end. It’s like running a marathon and stopping a mile from the finish line. Maybe I’m 10 miles from the finish line. I don’t know.
“What, you’d do that? That’s my mentality. I feel great. My body feels great. I feel like the game will naturally tell me when it’s time to step away and I feel like I’m nowhere near that point yet. ”
Both he and Upton bought an apartment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side for $16.75 million. Upton and Verlander have been married since 2017.
