The MLB clubhouses are closed until the spring as the 2023 offseason continues. Unfortunately, one closed clubhouse became ripe pickings for a burglar.
According to the Associated Press via ESPN, a 25-year-old man has been charged with felony burglary for entering the Milwaukee Brewers’ clubhouse and ultimately stealing a variety of objects belonging to members of the team.
Per the report, the man attended a game in September, got drunk, passed out and managed to get back into the stadium by simply pulling on the door repeatedly. Once inside he started going through the lockers and offices of staffers and coaches.
Manager Craig Counsell lost a jersey and a shaving kit. A Brewers strength coach said he lost a laptop, iPods, headphones, a passport and a credit card. An equipment manager was robbed of a hat, an autographed bat, a replica World Series ring and keys to the team’s spring training facility. Other items taken include several game jerseys, a bag of baseballs and pitching devices.
The report indicates that nobody was harmed during the robbery and the man ultimately got home by calling an Uber.
In the aftermath, detectives were able to recover most of the stolen memorabilia from his apartment.
As of writing, neither the attorney for the man nor the Milwaukee Brewers themselves have chosen to comment on the story.
It’s unclear what punishments the man faces if convicted.
