Minnesota Aurora completed a 12-0 season in front of 7K fans at TCO Stadium

Minnesota Aurora completed a dominating second regular season in the USL W League with a 7-0 win over Chicago City SC in front of 6,987 fans at TCO Stadium in Eagan.

Aurora is 12-0 and has outscored opponents 60-4, with eight shutouts. Chicago City (8-3-1), the runner-up to Minnesota in the Heartland Division, was next closest in the league in goals scored with 26.

“We were really excited to have all our wonderful fans here, nearly 7,000 people. Thank you fans for continuing to show up; we have the best fans in the league,” said Head Coach Nicole Lukic. “It took us a bit to break them down, credit to Chicago, they had a good first half. They’re a physical team, and they gave us a good matchup. We talked about a few adjustments at halftime, and our players showed they are coachable. The floodgates opened from there.”

Aurora, which last season finished as the USL W runner-up, next plays Thursday in a Central Conference semifinal in Flint, Mich., against an opponent to be determined.
Morgan Stone scored Aurora’s lone first-half goal on a header off Addy Weichers’ corner kick.

In the second half, Cat Rapp scored two goals in a span of two minutes, Sophie French scored two goals, Maya Hansen added her team-leading 12th goal, and Hannah Adler and Sophie French also scored for the Aurora.
