MINNEAPOLIS – Five tournaments highlight the University of Minnesota men’s golf team’s 2022 fall schedule, starting with the Gopher Invitational in the second week of September.

“Coach Bell and I are really excited for the schedule we have for the upcoming season,” head coach Justin Smith said. “At Minnesota we pride ourselves on playing against the best teams in the country week in and week out. This schedule will allow us to do that, which ultimately will set us up to achieve our goals. With some elite events right here in the Midwest , as well as nationally, that will provide our student athletes with an incredible experience throughout the entire year. We are so excited to get started at home at our prestigious Gopher Invitational.”

The Golden Gophers will begin their first event on Sept. 11 when they host the Gopher Invitational at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Maple Plain, Minn. The course is consistently rated among the state’s top golf courses, while also being nationally recognized as one of the top modern courses in the country.

After hosting the first event of the season, the Maroon and Gold will travel to New Haven, Conn. to play in the MacDonald Cup at Yale Golf Course on Sept. 25-26. The course was ranked #83 in the world by Golf Magazine, as well as #1 College Course in America by Golfweek. The Gophers will return to Yale for the first time since 2019.

As the calendar turns to October, Minnesota heads to the state next door as they’ll compete in the Marquette Collegiate on Oct. 2-3 at the Milwaukee Country Club. The course was one of Golf Digest’s America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses in 2021-22.

One week later, the Gophers will play in the Alister Mackenzie Invitational at The Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif. on Oct. 10-11. The course – designed in 1927 – utilizes meandering creeks, subtle elevation changes and broad vistas.

The Maroon and Gold will travel south to Windermere, Fla. for the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational at Isleworth Golf and Country Club on Oct. 23-25. The course was originally designed by Arnold Palmer, and is recognized as one of the most prestigious private golf club communities in the world. The Isleworth Collegiate makes an appearance on the fall schedule once again, as Minnesota competed in the event last October.

The Gophers will return seven golfers from last year’s team in addition to welcoming newcomers Jack Wetzel, Mason Roloff, Cormac Sharpe and Jacob Pedersen.
