The High Point University men’s golf team will head to Western Carolina Monday and Tuesday to compete in the JT Poston Invitational.
The Field
There is an array of teams included in the field including Western Carolina, Abilene Christian, Appalachian State, Bellarmine, Belmont, Chattanooga, Coastal Carolina, Elon, Francis Marion, Georgia State, James Madison, Kennesaw State, Morehead State, UNC Wilmington, Western Kentucky, and Wofford.

Playing at a par-71, 7,007-yard layout, the beautiful Country Club of Sapphire Valley is a private, member-owned club that features a valley golf course, plush clubhouse, state-of-the-art fitness center, and tennis center . The course meanders through the backdrop of a mature hardwood forest and the scenic mountains of the southern Appalachians that provide for breathtaking views and a natural setting. The course, which sits on a level valley floor despite its mountainous surroundings, was originally designed by George Cobb and was updated by Bill Bergin.
Format and Schedule
Monday starts the action with 36 holes of continuous play with a shotgun start. Tuesday the teams will play 18 holes to finish up. The set-up is a Par-71 consisting of 7,007 yards.
Last Time Out
The High Point men’s golf team completed play at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate Tuesday, September 13th. The Panthers came in 19th out of 24 teams with Alan Smith performing at the top individually. Smith tied for 52nd overall.
UP NEXT
High Point will head over to Spartanburg, South Carolina Sunday, October 9th to participate in the Carolina Collegiate. This is a three-day event hosted by USC Upstate.
