The following athletes were named to the T&G Hometeam girls’ golf Super Team, as selected by the T&G staff.
Player of the Year
Sophie Kamil
Westborough High
Freshman
Kamil, the first Westborough freshman to earn the Rangers’ No. 1 spot since Ali Reed in 2008, is the Hometeam Girls’ Golfer of the Year. Kamil won or shared medalist honors in more than half of Westborough’s matches and posted a low round of 41 against Auburn and Notre Dame Academy. She carded consistent scores in the low 40s all season. At the North/Central/West girls’ golf state sectional at Cold Springs Country Club in Belchertown, Kamil shot 81 to lead Westborough to a fourth-place finish. Her most memorable moment of the season was winning the Mid-Wach League title. She was her team’s MVP. She is the daughter of Sandra O’Neill and Syed Kamil of Westborough.
Georgia Beland
Notre Dame Academy
Freshman
Beland, the 2021 Hometeam Golfer of the Year, earned her third straight Super Team honor. At the North/Central/West girls’ golf state sectional at Cold Springs Country Club in Belchertown, she shot 85 to help the Rebels to a second-place finish and qualify for the state tournament. NDA’s No. 1 player, Beland earned co-medalist honors at the Central Mass. Athletic Directors Association Tournament at Quail Hollow with an 82. Her season nine-hole scoring average was 41. Shooting 2 under at Kettle Brook GC was her most memorable moment of the season. She is the daughter of Rina Sgouritsas and Eric Beland of Webster.
Katie Cullen
Uxbridge High
Senior
After starring for the boys’ team last fall, Cullen shot 82 and finished 20th at the North/Central/West girls’ golf state sectional this spring at Cold Springs Country Club in Belchertown. A two-year captain and six-year member of the boys’ varsity team, Cullen had a scoring average of 40. Her lowest nine-hole score was 35, playing from the men’s tees. Her most memorable moments of the year were playing in the SWCL tourney and helping the boys’ team to a postseason appearance for the second year in a row. In the fall, Cullen will attend St. Anselm College, where she will study criminal justice and play golf. She is the daughter of Amanda Cullen-Hatalyk and Todd Cullen of Uxbridge.
Addison Cutting
Notre Dame Academy
Eighth grade
Cutting helped the Rebels to a 14-1 record, runner-up finishes at the Central Mass. Athletic Directors Association Tournament and the North/Central/West girls’ golf state sectional, and a fourth-place performance at the state championship. Individually, Cutting was fourth at the CMADA tourney, 29th at the sectional and 34th at the state tourney. During the regular season, she earned medalist honors five times. Cutting’s most memorable moment of the season was her chip-in for eagle against Wachusett Regional. She also made an eagle at the sectional tournament. Cutting is a member of NDA’s volleyball and indoor track teams. She is the daughter of Kerrie and John Cutting of Shrewsbury.
Caroline Dubrey
St. Paul
Junior
After helping the boys’ team to a 13-3 record last fall, Dubrey shot 85 to finish 24th at the North/Central/West girls’ golf state sectional at Cold Springs Country Club in Belchertown. Dubrey opened the fall season with a 41 to claim medalist honors against Nipmuc Regional Shining Rock GC in Northbridge and lead the Knights to a 6-0 start. A team captain and St. Paul’s No. 2 golfer, Dubrey’s scoring average was 43. Her most memorable moment of the season was the Knights’ win over Grafton on the last hole at Highfields Golf and Country Club. Dubrey is her class president and a member of the National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Brenda and Dr. Paul Dubrey Jr., of Worcester.
Kylie Heffernan
Nashoba Regional
Freshman
Heffernan finished on the 21stSt at the North/Central/West girls’ golf state sectional after shooting an 83 at Cold Springs Country Club in Belchertown. She went on to finish 27thth at the state championship. Making the varsity golf team as a freshman and qualifying for the state tournament were Heffernan’s most memorable moments of the season. She will play in the upcoming New England Junior PGA Championship at Shaker Hills CC. She is the daughter of Amanda and Brett Heffernan of Lancaster.
