Mathieu Perreault Officially Retires From NHL

Elite Prospects confirmed on Thursday that former Washington Capitals forward Mathieu Perreault has officially retired from the NHL. Perreault, 34, played 13 seasons in the League, including four seasons with the Washington Capitals.

Perreault played for the Capitals from 2009-10 through 2012-13. He was drafted by the Capitals in the fifth round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He was also part of the Hershey Bears Calder Cup winning teams in 2008-09 and 2009-10.

The Caps traded Perreault to the Anaheim Ducks before the 2013-14 season. He has also played for the Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens. The Canadiens placed forward Perreault on waivers on March 16 of this year.

In 701 career NHL games with Washington, Anaheim, Winnipeg and Montreal, Perreault recorded 349 points (142 goals, 207 assists).
