CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati women’s golf head coach Janet Carl announced the addition of Marissa Steen to her staff.
A high-level golfer with 18 years of competitive playing experience, Steen will serve as assistant coach to the Bearcats.
“We are so excited to announce the addition of Marissa Steen to our coaching staff,” said Carl. “Marissa brings a wealth of knowledge from her time on the Symetra and LPGA tours. She has excelled through hard work, passion and drive. She will bring a new perspective and knowledge base to our team. The players are excited to get busy working! “
Steen has spent the last 10 years as a professional golfer. She started her professional career on the Symetra Tour in 2012, collecting three individual victories. She was named the Symtera Tour Player of the Year in 2014.
Steen was then promoted to the LPGA Tour in 2015 where she finished top-10 at the 2021 Women’s British Open.
“I am very excited to be a part of the Bearcat family,” said Steen. “I can’t wait to get the golf season underway and help our student-athletes be the best they can be both on and off the course.”
In addition, Steen has served as a golf instructor since 2006, most recently working for the Turtle Creek Golf Club. She also spent time as an instructor with Shaker Run GC and Four Bridges GC.
The 2012 Conference USA Scholar-Athlete of the Year starred on the University of Memphis women’s golf team from 2008-12. She earned six individual medalist honors and was a four-time NGCA All-American Scholar.
A native of West Chester, Steen is a 2012 graduate of Memphis where she earned her bachelor’s degree in sport and leisure studies with a minor in communications.
