BRUNSWICK, Ga.- The Coastal Georgia women’s basketball team (0-0) will open up its season against the University of Mobile (0-2) on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 5:30 pm in Mobile, Ala.
Historically, the matchup between the Mariners and the Rams has been close. The Rams lead the series 5-4 including a 72-59 win over Coastal Georgia last season. Unlike the Mariners, Mobile returned eight of its players from last year’s squad that finished 14-11.
Last season, the Mariners got off to a rocky start, but after two impressive scrimmage performances against East Georgia State College and Albany St., Coastal Georgia will look to get moving in the right direction.
Scouting Mobile:
- The Rams are coming off back-to-back losses against LSU-Shreveport and Philander Smith College on Oct. 28-29. They are led by Head Coach Erika Stuckman who enters her fifth year at the helm of the program.
- After two games, the Rams have four players averaging 10 or more points on the season.
- Although they are 0-2, the Rams have outrebounded their opponents 33-26 on average.
- They do, however, turn the ball over, averaging 11.5 on the season.
- Mobile doesn’t shoot the three a lot, but when they do it is at an efficient rate. They’re averaging just five three-pointers a game but are shooting 56 percent from beyond the arc.
- The Rams struggle, however, from the charity stripe making just 56 percent of their attempts so far this season.
