‘Those youngins over there in Boston, I got to see them grow up,’ said Irving, who spent two seasons in Boston with the Celtics.

‘To see them doing what they did last year on the final stage, making it that far, I’m glad they had to go through us.’

Irving was scrutinized all season for not taking the COVID-19 vaccine. Due to the rule that New York City had in place regarding a vaccine mandate, athletes who played for NYC’s home teams such as the Nets were not allowed to participate in games held at the Barclay’s Center.

The rule was highly criticized however as non-vaccinated away players were allowed to play at Barclay’s or Madison Square Garden without an issue.

The star point guard went on to say that he is using the elimination as motivation and is looking forward to playing the Celtics again in the playoffs.

Irving earned a $50,000 fine after he gave Celtics fans the middle finger during Game One of the playoffs.

‘We gon’ see them again,’ the Brooklyn point guard said. ‘We gon’ have to. They gon’ be where they gon’ be.’
