After opting in to his 2023-24 player option with the Knicks on June 29, Josh Hart has committed to the final roster spot on Team USA’s 2023 FIBA World Cup roster, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Hart will join the 12-man roster that features his Knicks teammate Jalen Brunson and former Villanova teammate, Nets wing Mikal Bridges.
After being acquired from the Portland Trail Blazers at the trade deadline, Hart averaged 10.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.4 steals in 25 games with New York.
The 2023 FIBA World Cup begins on Aug. 25 and Team USA will play its first game of the group stage on Aug. 26 against New Zealand in Manila, Philippines. They will then face off against Greece on Aug. 28 and Jordan on Aug. 30.
The top two finishers of Group C will advance to the Second Round and face the top two finishers of Group D (Egypt, Mexico, Montenegro, and Lithuania).
