Brody MacIver played the best golf of his life to be crowned under-seven world champion at the Champion of Champions tournament in Northern Ireland.
The Lentran golfer beat the best players in the world for his age group at Loch Erne Golf Resort.
MacIver, who is a member of Aigas Golf Club and Nairn Golf Club, has just turned eight years old.
The Kirkhill Primary School pupil says becoming world champion was the best birthday present he could get.
“It was the toughest competition that I have ever taken part in and it was great to win it,” he said.
“When I was in the play-off final there were 400 people watching and I have never played in front of such a big crowd before.
“I was a wee bit nervous to start with but I managed to get used to it. The other golfers I was up against were really good and they were the best I have played against.”
To become world champion, MacIver needed a play-off with Zachary Blaynery of England after both boys finished their three rounds on -4. They were eight shots ahead of the rest of the field.
But Brody’s dad and caddie Don says his son keeps his composure when it matters most.
“In the final round, he knew he had to play the best golf of his life and he managed to do that,” he said.
“In the final round, he made three eagles and a birdie to make -6 and earn a play-off.
“The rules said as a caddy, I was only allowed to push his trolley, I couldn’t give instructions or hand over clubs.
“But he knew what to do, no problem.
“It was definitely the best golf that I have ever seen him play, he was incredible to watch.”
Despite it being the biggest win of his career, MacIver is no stranger to success. Last year, he was British Junior Golf Champion and earlier this year was US Kids European champion.
