The family-run Kingsway Group is making sure golf is inclusive and available to all – and has been developing its facilities, which can be found in Melbourne, Cambridge and Biggleswade.
The group runs Kingsway Royston, which includes a beautiful nine-hole, par 33 course over 2,329 yards in Melbourne that features challenges for experienced players while remaining accessible for beginners.
Or you practice on the 30-bay driving range, which features Toptracer ball tracking technology.
“It’s great for golfers in winter if they can’t get out on the course as much,” said Charlie Bedford, from Kingsway.
Want to have fun with the family? Then look no further than the brilliant Jurassic Links adventure golf course, featuring a host of dinosaurs – one of which, memorably, got stuck in the Suez Canal as it was on its way over. It will be open over the festive period too if you’re looking to burn off some Christmas pudding and get the kids off their games consoles.
“It’s brought a whole new demographic of people here, with families playing, and grandparents enjoying it with their grandkids,” said Charlie Bedford, from Kingsway.
There’s also the Orchard par-three course, footgolf and a golf academy on offer – and when you’re done with all those, why not enjoy a Jamaica Blue coffee or a bite to eat? The site is ideal for children’s parties too.
And there is the AFGolf Store on site, offering custom fitting of clubs.
Kingsway acquired what was Cambridge Lakes, a nine-hole, par three course off Trumpington Road, in April.
“We have started to renovate the clubhouse and are starting to renovate some of the tee boxes and course,” said Charlie.
Coffee and cakes are available, and Kingsway is hoping to expand the food and drink on offer.
Lessons for all ages are available at both Cambridge and Melbourne.
“You don’t have to be a member to play. Anyone can play,” said Charlie. “Kingsway is very inclusive. We want to get everyone down to play and we have schools visiting.
“We have course rules, of course, but you don’t have to be dressed in formal golf gear.
Meanwhile, just off the A1 in Biggleswade, Kingsway has a 20-bay driving range and is partnered with an American Golf store.
