KHS soccer boys struggle in 5-0 loss to RUP – Lake County Record-Bee

KELSEYVILLE — Kelseyville High School varsity boys soccer head coach KC White said his team came out flat and never got any traction in a 5-0 North Central League I loss to Roseland University Prep on Tuesday evening in Kelseyville.

“My players were really sluggish today, no energy,” White said. “It’s finals week. Maybe that had something to do with it.”

RUP scored twice in the first half before pulling away with three more goals in the second half.

“It’s only our sixth game, but it was by far our worst game in terms of effort, commitment and working together,” White said. “It was like 11 different cogs instead of working as one.”

There were a handful of bright spots, namely the play of Aiden Rivas, Alex Cabrera and Abraham Rico, according to White.

“He was everywhere again, he does it every game,” White said of Rivas. “I used Alex at four or five different positions. He played well on defense and offense. He gives me everything he has every game… I love that about him.”

Added White of the team’s loss, “It just wasn’t our night.”
