Keyboard delivered instead of laptop, e-commerce firm accuses agent of Rs 2 lakh fraud in Pune | Pune News

PUNE: The Hinjewadi police are searching for a delivery person working with an e-commerce company for duping the company of Rs2 lakh by exchanging products ordered by the customers.
The fraud came to light only recently, when one of the customers found a keyboard, instead of a laptop he had ordered During the internal inquiry it was revealed that the delivery person had duped several customers using the same method.
The company’s zonal manager has filed a complaint with the Hinjewadi police on Sunday
An officer from the Hinjewadi police told TOI that according to the complainant, a team consisting of the company’s senior officials recently carried out internal checks and found that a shipment of a laptop was returned by the customer.
“According to the complainant, the laptop was from the new stock and despite this, the customer had canceled the order. When the store manager checked the order, they found a computer keyboard in the parcel instead of the ordered laptop,” the office said .
On seeing this the store manager checked the list of the shipments assigned to the delivery person and found that most of these shipments were rejected by the customers for a variety of reasons. “In all the returned orders the articles and gadgets were missing. Suspecting the delivery person’s involvement behind this, a complaint was filed against him,” the officer added.
The delivery person has been booked under sections 408 (criminal breach of trust by clerk or servant) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Codethe officer said.
