CLEVELAND — A Guardians hitter finally came through.
Trailing by one run with two on and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Jose Ramirez drilled a double into the right-center gap to give the Guardians a walk-off 4-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday at Progressive Field.
That clutch hit allowed the Guardians (24-29) to overcome three home runs by the Cardinals (24-31), all in the fifth inning.

Hunter Gaddis held the Cardinals scoreless until the fifth inning. Then the Cardinals seemingly figured him out, as Alec Burlson, Andrew Knizner and Paul Goldschmidt all hit solo home runs in a five-batter stretch to give St. Louis has a 3-1 lead.
The Guardians, again, struggled to string together much of anything at the plate, as another quality performance from the pitching staff almost went unrewarded.
