A reality TV star has been sentenced in court for driving a golf buggy drunk to get a late-night servo feed.
Jordan Dowsett, 25, a contestant on this year’s season of Love Island Australia, pleaded guilty at Southport Magistrate’s Court on Monday to mid-range drink driving on the Gold Coast.
Dowsett was approached by police around 3am on November 13 at the intersection of Brisbane Road and Olsen Avenue at Biggera Waters after they saw Dowsett driving a golf cart on a busy road.
In his Love Island Australia bio it mentions he moved to the Gold Coast to be ‘adventurous’ with his mates.

‘Jordan wanted to explore life so he moved to the Gold Coast with his mates,’ his Love Island 2022 bio reads.
‘He hopes the Love Island Australia experience is an extension of that by doing new things and being adventurous.’
The court heard Dowsett was pulled over after officers noticed ‘a strong smell of liquor’ coming from the buggy, reported The Courier Mail.
Police said when they spoke to Dowsett his speech was ‘partially slurred’, with his roadside breath test returning a positive reading.
He was taken to Southport Police Station to do a secondary test, blowing 0.159.
Dowsett’s lawyer Blake Fraser said the reality TV star had been visiting a friend in a nearby gated community earlier that evening where golf buggies are used to get around.

‘His friend (uses) the golf buggy to travel around the gated community,’ Mr Fraser explained.
(Dowsett) had originally entered the golf buggy as a passenger and traveled a short distance to the nearest petrol station to get some food.
‘However, the defendant made the stupid decision to get behind the wheel for the journey back.’
Mr Fraser asked the magistrate for leniency when handing down a sentence to Dowsett, stating he needs his license to work as a tradie.
‘He left school early so he could start his apprenticeship as an electrician (and) he’s worked in the industry for the past eight years,’ Mr Fraser said.
‘He’s only been with his current employer for three weeks and he won’t be able to fulfill his obligations without a license.
‘So that will obviously affect his ability to earn an income.’
Magistrate Mark Bamberry agreed to reduce the fine and disqualification period to the minimum, using Dowsett’s ‘young age’ and ‘career prospects’ as determining factors.
Dowsett was ordered to pay a $750 fine and was disqualified from driving for six months.
