Jirah Sidberry, Kyzaiah Stone earned first place finishes at Virginia Tech Invitational

BLACKSBURG, Va. – After a strong first day at the Virginia Tech Invitational, the NC State track and field program wrapped up action in Blacksburg with two first place finishes and two new personal bests.

SPRINTS

NC State junior Carolina Lewis started the day off for the Pack in the women’s 400m final, placing eighth overall in the event with a time of 59.35.

In the women’s 200m final, Ally Henson took 10th overall with a time of 25.44, which is a new personal best.

JUMPS

The Wolfpack saw some of their freshman talent on display, as well Jakerra Covington finished eighth in the women’s high jump final. Her jump of 1.55m (5’1.0″) is a new personal best.

The young talent didn’t stop there, as a fellow freshman Kyzaiah Stone claimed first place in the men’s high jump final with a jump of 2.15m (7’0.50″). The mark is now tied for sixth-best in school history.

NC State saw two athletes finish in the top 10 for the women’s long jump final. Senior Jirah Sidberry claimed first place with a jump of 5.95m (19’6.25″) – a mark that becomes eighth best in program history. Pack sophomore Zahra Bichara finished 10th overall with a jump of 5.49m (18’0.25″).

In the men’s long jump final, sophomore William Sistruck finished in eighth with a jump of 6.86m (22’6.25″).

UP NEXT: The Pack will travel back to Blacksburg for the Hokie Invitational that begins on January 20.
