What they need

With Stastny likely not returning, the Jets will need Perfetti or someone else to step into a top-six role. Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Nikolaj Ehlers.

They said it

“We have an exciting group of talented young players with the Jets, so now my focus immediately turns to what it will take to get back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.” — coach Rick Bowness

Fantasy focus

Ehlers’ potential would greatly benefit if Bowness gives the wing more time on the first power-play unit. Last season, the 26-year-old was sixth among Winnipeg forwards in power-play ice time per game (2:14), so it’s possible he shatters his NHL career high in power-play points (13, twice) under a coach. who maximized the production of Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz with the Stars over the past two seasons. Ehlers also averaged more than a point per game after returning from a knee injury last season (30 points in the final 28 games), and he is quietly tied for 19th in the NHL in even-strength points over the past three seasons (131 in 180 games). — Pete Jensen
