Interim Soccer Coach Named for PCPS

Mike Arnold has been hired as the interim soccer coach for the Lady Cats, pending board of education approval. Arnold has been with Ponca City Public Schools since 2011. He is currently a special education teacher at Union Elementary and assistant coach for the Po-Hi swim team.

“I am eager that Mike Arnold is stepping in as interim girls’ soccer coach,” said Jason Leavitt, athletic director. He brings outstanding coaching experience to the Lady Cats.”

Soccer has always been a big part of Mike’s life. He was a proud member of the Northern Oklahoma College soccer team, played on adult leagues both locally and in the Oklahoma City area, Oklahoma State Men’s club team and multiple indoor leagues. Coach Arnold has been associated with Ponca City soccer for many years. He served as an assistant girls’ soccer coach for Po-Hi and as a soccer official for all levels of play.

Arnold has coached many different levels of soccer within the soccer club from local rec teams to many different PC United travel teams. For the past five years he has been the assistant coach to the highly competitive Po-Hi swim team producing many state qualifiers.

“Teaching is a passion and whether on the field or in the classroom, I strive to provide all those I come into contact with a positive environment,” said Arnold. “I lead with energy and enthusiasm. I want to build relationships with students and their families and help all athletes on and off the field. I am looking forward to this year and cannot wait to get started.”
