Indoor golf comes to Old Parks in Bordeaux

New and veteran golfers alike flocked to the Old Parktonian Sports Club for the launch of its indoor golf venue.

The Swing Shack opened with much hype at the sports club in Bordeaux and offers something very rare in South Africa.

The concept is that one can play golf whatever the weather or time while improving one’s golf skills and having the ability to socialize with friends.

Of course, there is also food and an uninterrupted, comfortable golfing experience.

The owner David Lamprecht has been setting up venues similar to this for the past 10 years in southeast Asia while also coaching some of the top players in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Cambodia.

Tm Stokes lines up his shot.

“I believe that this opens the door to so many different types of golfers, whether they don’t have the time to play on the golf course or if they struggle to get their desired tee times, to the beginner who feels intimidated on the range while getting unsolicited advice,” Lamprecht said.

The Swing Shack is busy at its launch.

“It’s the perfect venue to improve your golf with good quality HD video and Flightscope launch monitor data analysis as well as voice-over feedback after each lesson. Although we have all the technical aspects in place, I believe it’s important to simplify the golf swing into terms that each individual that comes in, can relate to.”

Andrew Pillay gives it a swing at the Swing Shack.

He said they could host socials, individual sessions or lessons, and could cater for up to 40 people for an event.

“It’s the perfect place to sit down and enjoy a social golfing experience with your friends, while learning a whole lot about your game at the same time.”
