GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gator great and 2021 National League Rookie of the Year Jonathan India will compete in the second-ever Major League Baseball Field of Dreams Game at 7:15 pm ET on Thursday night, as his Cincinnati Reds take on the Chicago Cubs in Dyersville, Iowa .
Coverage of the 2022 Field of Dreams Game kicks off with the pregame show at 6 pm ET on FOX, with first pitch coming just over an hour later. Joe Davis is set to handle play-by-play duties while John Smoltz will serve as the analyst.
Played in rural Iowa on the same property as the original field from the 1989 film with the same name, the MLB Field of Dreams Game is in its second year of existence. On Aug. 12, 2021, the Chicago White Sox defeated the New York Yankees, 9-8, in walk-off fashion to win the inaugural installation.
India represents the first former Gator to actively participate in the event. Veteran reliever Darren O’Day was a member of the Yankees last season when the Bronx Bombers took on the White Sox in Dyersville, but was limited to the 60-day injured list at the time of the game. India will start at second base and bat leadoff for the Reds on Thursday night.

India in the middle of his second MLB campaign after claiming NL Rookie of the Year honors in 2021 thanks to a .269/.376/.459 batting line with 21 homers and 12 steals. Although his sophomore season was marred by injury in the first half, the Reds second baseman has rebounded to post a respectable .244/.306/.387 clip with seven long balls and two stolen bases in 58 games.
