The 62nd historic home run hit by New York Yankees Captain Aaron Judge might be a few weeks old news, but that ball getting auctioned isn’t. Not long ago, it was speculated that the person who caught the ball had apparently refused any offers that the Yankees’ management made in exchange for the ball. However, it was not only speculations but the catcher of that historic home run ball, Cory Youmans, after weeks of confusion did put the ball up for auction. But the ball got sold only for $1.5 million. For which, Youmans got brutally trolled by fans to have sold that ball for way less.

And now, the catcher of the ball spoke about being at peace with one and a half million dollars.

What did Youmans say about getting a low price for the historic home run ball of Aaron Judge?

What mattered for Youmans was not to get a much bigger price for that ball, but the peace of mind. He had many people giving him offers, much more than what he sold the ball for. But he didn’t know who was real and legitimate and who wasn’t.

Therefore, when he got asked about his feelings about selling the historic baseball for $1.5 million, he said, “I’m thankful for the $1.5 million”. Peace of mind is what mattered to him the most. And eventually, he got that.

He also said that if the people who offered him the money were, in fact legitimate, then they would have come forward in the auction and bought the ball. The lack of transparency that Youmans faced was one of the biggest factors that turned him into going towards the auction.

The year 2022 had some major events for both Youmans and Judge

As the country probably knows by now, New York Yankees star Aaron Judge bet on himself to hit 50 homers. Not only did he do that, but he also hit 12 others. He did so to break the legendary Roger Maris’ all-time American League home run record. With it, he re-signed with the Yankees in his free agency. Later came him becoming the Yankees’ sixteenth Captain.

Whereas Youmans got diagnosed with melanoma on his leg in May this year. Fortunately, it was caught early, and he fully recovered from it as well. Then came the big night. A reporter for Sports Illustrated caught the historic home run ball. It was the man who went to the game just to see Aaron Judge play.
