User education is vital to boosting the detection rate of phishing emails or social engineering scams that could lead to data breaches or ransomware infestations.

Technology alone can’t make websites or email inboxes safe since both are business-critical for all users, meaning that organizations have to depend on their employees to make the right decision, says Amelia Paro, director of channel development at ID Agent. This challenge is pronounced for small businesses, which face the same threats as larger counterparts but with only a fraction of the budget, she says (see: Graphus’ Amelia Paro on Why Phishing Has Exploded Since 2020).

“Security awareness training platforms can now be delivered to small businesses in a Software-as-a-Service model,” Paro says. “This makes it more cost-effective for a small business with limited IT resources and staff and budget to have access to an enterprise security awareness training platform.”

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Paro also discusses:

  • How the threat landscape for email attacks has changed;
  • How the training needs of large and small companies differ;
  • Why full-day security training courses aren’t too effective.

Paro leads the channel team across all of Kaseya including ID Agent, working with MSPs and channel partners around the globe. She has over 10 years of experience in the technology industry in B2B and B2C environments, and her past sales experience includes IT hardware/software and IT consulting and services. Paro has managed and grown a successful MSP in Arizona and worked with clients across the United States in the financial sector, nonprofits and unions, and Fortune 500 retail organizations.
