Hunt for hit and run white van man in Golf del Sur intensifies

Last Sunday evening (December 11th) at around 8:30pm there was a hit and run on the road leading from Las Chafiras to the Golf del Sur in the south of Tenerife, involving a white van that didn’t stop after knocking over two British women, a mother and daughter aged 50 and 75 respectively, both of whom were injured, one of them seriously.

In an update from the British Consulate, they have confirmed the sad news that the youngest of them, (MAE, aged 50) has passed away due to the seriousness of her injuries at the University Hospital, while her mother (CAE, aged 75) , who suffered minor injuries, was already on medical discharge.

The Consulate, local authorities, and police are all now officially requesting the collaboration of local residents in the area to locate the driver of the white van, with the following information being released:

– The van is a white panel with the front, right, wing mirror missing (passenger side), as it came off during the accident and was left at the scene of the incident, and possibly the right front headlamp damage.

– The make and model of van is thought to be one of the following:
Renault Traffic.
Nissan Primestar.
Vauxhall Vivaro.

– The only details about the driver are that he was a white, Caucasian male, approximately 1.70 meters tall (5ft 8”) is either bald or has a closely shaved head, and was wearing shorts and a T-shirt that night.

The Local Police of San Miguel and the Guardia Civil are working on locating the vehicle and its driver, with the help of the Local Police across the island of Tenerife.

They have confirmed that they already have several leads that they are following up on, and say it is only a matter of time before they catch him, so they recommend that he give himself up before the inevitable happens.

However, if you have any information, no matter how small, please contact the Local Police on 608 630 630 or WhatsApp 629 23 26 23. If you are concerned about calling the police, or maybe don’t want to because you don’t speak Spanish, contact us via messenger here at the Canarian Weekly.
