The Tigers currently have the longest active winning streak in the majors, thanks to a rare road sweep over the Chicago White Sox, followed up by taking three-straight from the Kansas City Royals. The six-game win streak is tied for the most for the ball club this season, as they hit that mark back in early July. They have played well thanks to a mixture of excellent pitching, and timely hitting. The best part, the offense is coming from up-and-down the lineup, something that has been rare in 2022. They are also now out of last in the American League Central, as they are a half-game up on the Royals. Detroit will also look to continue to improve upon their home record, currently sitting at 33-45 at Comerica Park.
The Twins have been out of the playoffs for a while, which is surprising given that they were at the top of the division for a good portion of the first half of the season. However, they have been lackluster as of late, and are just 9-17 in the month of September, despite taking two of three from the White Sox prior to arriving in Motown.
Thanks to the sweep over KC, the Tigers are now 38-41 against teams in the AL Central, while the Twins are 37-32 against division foes.
Minnesota has won 10 of the first 16 meetings this season, with the Twins winning two of three in a series in Minneapolis last month.
