After falling in overtime for the second game in a row, the Detroit Red Wings come back to Little Caesars Arena on Sunday, hoping to get back on the winning track when they take on the Anaheim Ducks.

Although they have points in each of their first four games of the season, the Red Wings return home with a sour taste in their mouth after a disappointing result on Friday night. In their lone trip to the Windy City, Detroit surrendered a two-goal lead in the third period against their longtime rivals in the Chicago Blackhawks. The Hawks were able to complete the comeback in overtime, as Max Domi handed Chicago their second win of the season by a final score of 4-3.
The optimism surrounding the Wings remains high with the addition of exceptional talent over the offseason, with former Blackhawk Dominik Kubalik finding the back of the net in the loss, and veteran defenseman Olli Maata showing signs of his former self in the early going, but the The inability to finish games, especially against teams they should beat, is all too familiar for Detroit. If they want to meet the expectation as a team to stay in the hunt for a postseason spot, the Red Wings need to be able to play a full 60 minutes.
They will receive another opportunity to do so on Sunday as they welcome an inconsistent Ducks team to LCA. Anaheim comes into the contest with just one win over their first five games of the season. Granted, they have spent the majority of the season so far on the road. After starting the season with a win on home ice on Oct. 12, the Ducks have been on the east coast for their last four matchups, losing three-straight in regulation to the New York teams, before falling to the Boston Bruins in a shootout on Thursday.
Last season, both meetings between the Ducks and Wings needed extra time, as Detroit was victorious in overtime in the lone meeting in Motown.
