There are a number of tricks to reduce battery consumption, such as turning off the dedicated graphics card, although not the integrated one, so that said part does not consume energy. We can also do things like lower the brightness of the screen or disable WiFi when we are not using it and many other tricks. No matter what we do, we will only be delaying the inevitable that is the day your laptop battery will die. In other words, in your laptop the battery is already dying from the first moment you put your computer to work, however, we are interested to know if we are approaching the fateful day.
It is important to calibrate the battery
Well, actually the answer to the question is affirmative, more than anything for the reasons that we have explained in the previous paragraph. However, before checking your health status it is essential to calibrate the laptop battery so that it lasts longer. To do this we must follow a series of steps starting by completely turning off our laptop and leaving it connected to the network. It is best to do it at night while you are resting.
Once you have turned on your laptop you just have to go to the power options and opt for the balanced plan. If you don’t know how to do it, just follow these steps:
- For this we configure the Turn off screen in Never
- In Change advanced power settings, we go to Battery
- In Low battery action we put Do nothing
- In the Critical battery level action we select Hibernate
This will allow us to spend the battery at high speed, recharge it to the maximum and with this you will have calibrated the battery. That is, you will have achieved that the load value corresponds to its real percentage. This is important to do, since the next thing we will do is use an application to know what your health status is.
How to know if the battery is dying?
For this we are going to use an external program, called BatteryInfoView, it is a free application that will tell us the state of health and, therefore, the useful life that it has left.
Where we have to look at it in the parameter that says Battery Health, this will show us the percentage of life that the battery has left, so it will allow us to know how much life our battery has left. In my case it is at 62.6% and despite the fact that it may seem like a very high percentage of life, it would be time to change it when it is below 70% of the load.
