Hornets and Hillsdale Academy battle at Hanover-Horton Invite

The two Hillsdale boys golf teams and the Jonesville Comets headed out to Arbor Hills for the Hanover Horton Invitational on Tuesday, May 16. The Comets, Hornets and Colts battled over 18 holes one week before their individual league championship jamborees. The Comets of Hanover-Horton took first place with a final score of 315. However, the Colts finished just three strokes behind to take second place.

The Colts had a final team score of 318. Junior Colt Rykert Frisinger also took first place as an individual golfer. Frisinger finished the invitational two-under par. Frisinger birdied four holes, including a par-three on hole 10. HE had two birdies on both the back nine and the front nine. In addition, he had 12 pars, leaving just two bogeys on holes eight and 17.

His teammate, junior Ridley Fast, finished in sixth place. He had a final score of 78 and tied with a golfer from Hanover Horton. Fast had a birdie on a par-three. He also had 10 pars on the day. Conner Welden and Kahle Welden were the third highest scorers for the Colts. The two teammates had the same final score of 85. Conner had nine pars, including four straight pars on the front nine. Kahle had six pars and also had two birdies on two very different holes. He birdied a par-three hole 13 and a par-five hole 18. Lincoln Knirk had a final score of 97, sinking two pars.

The Hillsdale Hornets took sixth place out of 13 teams. Grant Alley was the highest scoring Hornet on Tuesday. The senior had a final score of 85, knocking in five pars and two birdies. Jaden Hall had a final score of 88, earning a birdie on hole 10 and adding an additional four pars. Joseph Miller had a final score of 88. He had one birdie on hole 12 and added three pars to his scorecard. Senior Brody Young had a final score of 88 as well, sinking two birdies on the day. He birdied a hole on the front and back nine. He also had five couples. Senior Jack Granata had a final score of 89. The senior had two pars on the front nine. He also had six pars on his scorecard.

The Jonesville Comets took ninth overall as a team. Senior Carter Lucas led the way with a 12th place individual finish and a final score of 82. Lucas had one birdie on hole 18 and added eight pars to his scorecard. Zachary Mains had a final score of 95, sinking three pars over 18 holes. Carter Baker had a final score of 96, sinking four pars. Senior Brennen Mains had a final score of 100. Mains had four pars in total.

The Colts have one final SCAA Jamboree this Thursday at Riverside Golf Course. Hillsdale heads to Meadows Golf Course for their final LCAA jamboree. All three teams have league championship jamborees next week on Tuesday.
