The Hillsdale Academy golf team ran away with the SCAA Championships earlier this week.
The Colts shot a team score of 314 on the day. The 18-hole event was held at Binder Park Golf Course in Battle Creek. Jackson Christian was a distant second with a team score of 373. Adrian Lenawee Christian finished with a team score of 378 for third.
Colon shot a team score of 384 to finish fourth. Climax-Scotts finished fifth at 385, Battle Creek St. Philip was sixth at 403 and Will Carleton Academy came in seventh at 408.
Burr Oak did not qualify as a team as the Bobcats have only one player.
That player is Flavio Hernandez, he shot a score of 86 on the day. This was good for 10th place overall.
Hernandez shot a 43 on The Marshall and a 43 on The Naturals. He scored six pars on the day and shot his lowest 18 hole score of the season.
“He played great, safe golf and only got into trouble a few times,” Burr Oak coach Tyler Hunt said. “Very few major mistakes led to his best round of the year.”
Rykert Frisinger of Hillsdale Academy was the medalist and conference champion, he shot a round of 73. Finishing second was Conner Welden of Hillsdale Academy and Ridley Fast, also of Hillsdale Academy. They each shot a round of 79 on the day. Braden Roosevelt fired a round of 82, Lincoln Knirk of Hillsdale Academy fired an 83 to finish fifth.
