GTA Online PC Exploit Will Be Fixed In Next Title Update, Rockstar Games Confirms

Rockstar Games has announced that a future title update for GTA: Online will include a fix for the recent exploit on PC.

A severe exploit to GTA: Online is set to be fixed in an upcoming title update, Rockstar Games has confirmed. The issue arose late last week for PC users, which reportedly allows hackers to take control of players’ accounts and possibly even their PCs.

Taking to Twitter, the official support account for the studio said “We are aware of potential new exploits in GTA Online for PC, which we aim to resolve in an upcoming planned security-related Title Update.” A link was also shared for players to report any issues they have had that are specifically related to this new exploit.

The new exploit was first brought to light by a Rockstar Games insider and community member, TezFunz2. On January 20th, Tez posted an important announcement to their Twitter account, revealing that a severe exploit for GTA: Online was making the rounds on PC. “New extreme exploits have appeared allowing cheaters to remotely add/remove/modify your stats and permanently corrupt your account aka ban/delete”, TezFunz2 said.

It was recommended that users don’t play GTA: Online at all until the issue had been rectified, but Tez noted that if you are going to play, ensure you have an active firewall on your PC. For those on consoles, there are no reports of this exploit affecting them. The tweet also included an image of the mod menu hackers were using, which showed the options to “remove money”, “reset mission cooldowns”, or even just simply “corrupt account”.

An exact release date for the upcoming title update has yet to be confirmed by Rockstar Games, but given the severity of the issue, it’s expected to be deployed sooner rather than later. It is advised that players ensure they have an active firewall installed in the meantime.
