GPD has brought the Win 4 to the crowdfunding website Indiegogo, where it has already garnered over US$700,000 from backers. Like the ONEXPLAYER 2, the GPD Win 4 relies on the Ryzen 7 6800U, an APU that contains eight Zen 3+ CPU cores and the Radeon 680M, an RDNA 2-derived iGPU with 12 Compute Units (CUs). However, the Win 4 promises to be significantly smaller than the ONEXPLAYER 2, with GPD including a 6-inch display compared to the 8.4-inch panel in One-netbook’s latest gaming handheld.
Specifically, the GPD Win 4 measures 220 x 92 x 28 mm and weighs 598 g, which also makes it more compact than the Steam Deck. As GPD teased previously, the handheld operates natively at 1080p and 40 Hz or 60 Hz, while it can adjust its APU’s TDP between 5 W and 28 W to favor battery life or performance. Incidentally, the Win 4 supports a docking station and an LTE module too, which you can back through the same Indiegogo campaign.
The GPD Win 4 starts at US$799 at the time of writing, undercutting the ONEXPLAYER 2 by US$100. Although all configurations ship with the Ryzen 7 6800U, GPD has various memory volumes. For instance, the US$799 version ships with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, but there are 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB or 2 TB of storage variants that rise to US$1,202. All configurations should begin shipping globally in March 2023, as should the Win 4’s docking station and LTE module.
