Golf wraps up first day at Alex Lagowitz Memorial

HAMILTON, NY – After day one at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial, the Villanova golf team sits tied for sixth out of 14 teams in the field.

The Wildcats finished the first round in seventh place among teams, but shaved four strokes off in round two and moved up a rung in the standings.

Peter Weaver completed the day with a -4, good for T-3rd among all golfers. The team captain notched 70 strokes in both rounds for a total of 140. Weaver leads all golfers with a -7 on par 5 holes, and sits second in the field with 10 birdies.

Freshman Ryan Pamer finished the first day at T-11th in the field, going 73 strokes in round one and 70 in round two for a 36-hole total of 143.

Transfer Jason Lohwater tallied a 73-stroke first round, but fell to T-56th on the leaderboard after a +7 second.

Vimal Alokam had one of just 10 eagles out of all golfers in the event, putting it up on just his second hole of the day. The returner to the Wildcats completed the day at +8, tied for 56th in the field.

Kyle Kinnane (T-71st) and Joshua Lavely (87th) rounded out VU’s lineup for the day.

The Wildcats will return to Seven Oaks Golf Club for 18 more holes on Sunday, looking to best last season’s finish of seventh at this event.
