Golf: What a wonderful time of the year

IT has been an exciting couple of weeks for me here in Canada.

Dusty and I got married and it was the best day of our lives.

We were so grateful to have a room full of people we met on life’s journey and it was overflowing with love throughout the day.

The wedding day itself was very emotional for both Dusty and I, as we looked around the room, each and every single person has meant so much to us, whether they’re family, co-workers or golfing friends.

I definitely struggled the most as I walked down the aisle and shared my vows with Dusty. I never could have imagined how my emotions took over things like they did, but I will cherish it for the rest of my life.

One of Dusty’s only requests was not to see me in my dress until I walked down the aisle. We went away after the ceremony and took some photos outside with the wedding party.

I should also mention on the day of our wedding the temperature was minus 30 Celius. It was freezing outside, but the photos turned out beautiful and it was all worth it.

All and all, it was a very special day for both of us.

It was far beyond what we could have dreamed of and we are thankful to all our friends and family, who had traveled from near and far to come and celebrate it with us.

Just over a week later we celebrated Christmas.

This was my first full traditional Christmas at home, as we have always chosen to go away on a trip. But this year, we decided to stay home to celebrate with our families.

We put our Christmas tree up, decorated the house, had lots of chocolates and sweets, and just relaxed listening to Christmas music in the background.

We had our families over and enjoyed a big turkey dinner, played some card games and my favorite part of the night was the White Elephant gift exchange.

We had a rule for everyone, whereby the gift budget was $30, and everyone had to bring a gift of their choice.

The rule was to wrap up your own gift, pick a number and the gift can only be stolen twice and after the third steal, it remains with the third person.

You can choose not to steal and grab whichever gift you desire.

There were 10 of us so there were 10 gifts to choose from. And I was the 10th person, which I think was great as I got to see everyone unwrap their gifts and know which one to go for.

Christmas tradition is something I didn’t grow up with, but I’ve really enjoyed learning about it and it always brings families together, which is my favorite part.

Dusty and I will be spending our New Year in Scottsdale, Arizona.

We are excited because the first LPGA Tour event in the United States this year will be played at the end of March at Superstition Mountain Golf Club in Arizona.

I aim to see if I can go out and play a practice round there before everything gets started.

We are also excited to get away from the cold for a week and head down to visit some friends and play some golf.

It has been quite a while since I swung my clubs. But I have enjoyed the time away from golf for a little bit and I am loving the fresh-start feeling and relishing the thought of getting back on the course again.
